Prologue of Jose Luis larrión: Landscapes
as they were
With his warm, evocative view of poetic emotions, Koldo Badillo
transports us through Navarre's plural landscapes.
Once there, he invites us to smell the humid soil, to contemplate
the rumbling of the blackbirds in desperate flight or to listen
to the whisper of the snow brushing across the battered branches
of the oak trees.
Koldo Badillo's sensitivity surpasses the limits of that academic
dividing line that separates Navarre into mountain, middle zone,
and southern fertile plains. Through his images, this coloristic
land matches the beauty of Provence or Tuscany, just as he himself
does with his undeniable artistic instinct, alongside other admired
photographers such as Ernst Haas or Franco Fontana.
Badillo's photography takes leave of its recognized objective
character to convert itself into a personal fantasy.
His images are thus the fruit of meditation, a reinterpretation
of reality. Koldo Badillo, from the ordinary, has managed to evoke
landscapes as they always were, preserving them on the evanescent
photographic canvas that time makes inexorable. These are landscapes
as they were and we will always want to remember them just so.
